I'm going to purchase one of these units and mount it under my canopy. I have a 72x18x26 acrylic tank I have about 4" of clearance under my canopy with 2 4" fans at each end 1 in and 1 out. I can raise the canopy another 1/2' without to much hassle. My question is will this be enough air flow under the canopy to keep things cool the light unit is 2.75' in height will this be to close to my acrylic tank top and will it melt the top of my tank?

I bet your acrylic top will have some sort of issue over the long run.

IMO Current Outer Orbit fixtures are a better deal :) You may want to check them out before purchasing Coralife.

Yes I've looked at those as well they are 4.25 ' in height and don't come in more than 150 watt per mh. My tank is quite deep and I would like the option to keep a clam or sps coral. I don't want to be limited in the future because of not enough wattage.

I have the 24" aqualight just hanging from the ceiling on the cable kit you can by with it and without a canopy, it still gets pretty hot IMO. You might get away with it if you do not enclose it, just border it with wood some how and leave the back, top and bottom open to air. I would probably keep fans in each end still even in the configuration I mentioned.

Well I've decided to knock the top right off and just go with the sideboards of the canopy. Have there been any reviews of this fixture? Are people who have them happy with the coralife aqua pro? I was going to get a PFO solaris LED light system but after reading reviews and seeing the problems people been having with them I don't think I want to be PFO's guinea pig. I would like some feed back on what has been working trouble free with a MH/PC combo hood with 250 watts per bulb. Don't think I need anymore wattage than that for what I want to do. Few sps and maybe a clam or 2.

Thx. in advance, Newtoreef

Just wanted to give an update of the 72" Coralife fixture total piece of poo. Do not do waste your money. After buying one putting it all together setting it up 2 of the 4 moonlights did not work. I bring it back to lfs and he was great enough to check it out seen it did not work setup another unit. Tested it it was working fine I brought it home, and again, totally different unit with 2 of the 4 moonlights not working! I brought it back for the second time and decided to go with a outer orbit. At least it is US made and has some sort of quality control. $1500 light you would think there would be some sort of quality control. Pay the extra couple dollars and do not buy crap that is made in china. :x
