Hi i have a 37g reef tank and alot of this hair algee
Any ideas on how to get rid of it? :cry:

the local fish store advised 200 mg erythromycin per 10 gallons and it will dissapear in a week or so, what do you think?

And I always thought that paricular antibiotic was for ghonoria... :?
Most reefers would recommend finding the source rather than fixing the result. The quick fix may work but the algea will most likely return because its food source is still being introduced to the tank from somewhere.

Oh my God, for hair algae..?? No! Please don't do it! You've hardly got any in the first place, if you hadn't posted the close up I would never have found it. PLEASE don't dose with the antibiotic, that's at best a treatment for cyanobacteria, which is a different fish entirely.

Your specimens look pretty rawkin', so don't worry about the algae. Just sayin'.

I'm gonna agree here. Lots of large water changes, at least 20-30%, 1 or 2 a week. Your tank will sparkle in no time.
