He must spend a ton on cooling using that method of farming. Sure he exposes more cells to photons but heat can be far more damaging to cell counts then that of lack of light.

Question is, has he made any ROI yet?

>...Algae are among the fastest growing plants in the world, and about 50 percent of their weight is oil.

*Dry* weight, and it is not 50 percent either.

>... "A pond has a limited amount of surface area for solar absorption," said Kertz.

It is not just surface area, but *solar* surface area.

Another article for the mass digestion

My guess is that they spray the plastic bags to cool down the algae a lot, so heat may not be a big issue. :? As to the ROI, it is probably not anytime in the near future.

Funny thing is his technology is a dead ringer for a patented process. I bet he gets slapped with a lawsuit after that article. I know the patend holder has seen it as I just talked to him about it  He mentioned spraying them as well ;)

100,000 gallons of pure oil is BS as well.
