No, not that type of Moon Lighting :)

I have seen ads for Moon lights and claims that they aid the health of corals.
Has anyone experienced noticeable changes with the use Moon lights ?
Any suggestions for type of Moon lights or are they all the same ?

i had moonlights on my last tank, and none on this one. i don't see a difference, except that this tank has seen faster growth in just over a month. i don't think this is due to lack of moonlights, but i do think that the moonlights aid in spawning, and not overall growth. meanwhile, my green pocillapora spawned a ton without moonlights since he's been in the new tank.
i also believe that moonlights are just a dim light. i don't think people are actually creating lights that put off the same wavelengths as the moon.
current's moonlights supplied with their fixtures are completely different than coralife's. and to make you even more confused-

I actually started to read into this myself. Not only do I want to try and create some natural moon light, but also see my tank at night without using a flashlight.

After seeing the blue led moon lights for $30 a piece, I've decided to make my own.

I though the moons wavelength was around 470nm in water, so I ordered some blue leds that will put out about 472nm. Some wire, a resistor, transformer and a timer - and instant moon!

I should have the parts on hand and built by next weekend. I'll be placing four easy positioning lights hidden from plain view behind my main light strip.

I can already, in two days, see a difference in algae growth with only increasing my main lights for 3 hours. (from 9 to 12 hours on). We'll see if my moon does anything with algae, rock growth or my critters....
