Hi All

I have a problem - every morning i wake up and more of my coraline has mysteriously disappeared! Very frustrating!

I have recently (last 3 months) added quite a bit of new stock to a well established 120 litre tank. New recruits include ... one peppermint shrimp, 4 chromies, a new cleaner shrimp (after death of a tank original, very sad.) and a b lue legged hermit. Additionally i have recently "found" a new crab in the rocks - i can't identify him due to his reluctance to make a daylight appearance but he is NOT a hermit, is about 3cm across and has large pincers and is a mid grey or grey green in colour. He might have been there for ages and only been found since a recent rock re-arrangement or he might have recently hitch-hiked on a rock that had some polyps on it.

He _might_ be an emerald....

So - any thoughts on who the culprit is? I am planning a midnight foray one evening - the last one i did showed the peppermint in the area of the damage but not yet convinced.

All help appreciated!

have you checked your calcium and alkalinity? i don't think it's crabs.

Hi,

thanks for the reply, have checked the levels and both fine.

It definitely something eating it - it's in a localised area and expands slowly - also some of the coraline shows marks on the surface like some sort of abrasion has happened. The coraline in other areas is fine and shows nothing.
