Help...please. About 2-3 weeks ago I moved my clownfish and other things into a 70 from a 30. Aded more zoas and a clam and a small frag of hard coral. Everything is fine, good water parameters. Yesterday I noticed some white strings coming out of my 4 year old feather duster so I siphoned them off. The clown was hiding. This morning the clown (Black saddleback about 2 and 1/2 years old) came out of hiding and has a swollen eye...all around. Could he have been stung by the emmision from ther tube worm? What could it be? What should I do? Thanks.
Still learning,
Lorraine

Search on "pop eye". I'm drawing a blank on recommended treatment right now (have only had my first cuppa joe, need more coffee!!!). If you can't find results here, search on http://www.wetwebmedia.com

Oh! Epsom salts, but I think that's more effective with freshwater.

Can you describe the eye more completely, please? Any redness? Cloudiness? Behavior? Just one eye, yes? Photos always help.

Thanks for the website, it was very informative and verified all I read on other websites and my books. I am just a nervous nelly when it comes to my fish and so I really reacted. I knew I could not catch him/her without tearing apart all the rock and making a mess so I will just do water changes daily and add some garlic treatment and watch. The clown is wiggling around up front again and acting normal and the bubble is clear. Maybe ran into a rock last night, new digs and all. Something else came to mind...I have not yet added my miracle mud refugium on the back of the tank, since I was in the process of renewing the mud when I moved them weeks ago. There is a protein skimmer at work though. Maybe I will do that tonight. Thanks for the help. Isn't it wonderful to feel so passionate about a fish and their eye????

You're welcome. Personally, I just think that if we take the responsibility for the life we should take it seriously and do what we can. Being observant is where it starts.

Just an update. The clownfish still has a swollen eye, only less so. He/she is eating and wiggling around in a shady place with the current and looks happy enough??? Who can tell (rhetorical ?) I was thinking of going to get the clown a cleaner shrimp today, maybe 2, and opinions.
