I'm looking for a good place to order some Interceptor without a prescription. I haven't tried the local vet yet, but just in case they won't let me get it, I'd like to have a back up so I can go ahead and order tomorrow.

I recently noticed my first little outbreak of red bugs after a few years of reef keeping, and even though all my acros are looking great, I want to take care of the problem before it becomes a huge problem. Also, I will be removing my ornamental shrimp during the treatment process, but I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their shrimp dealing with the interceptor.

Also, since this is my first time use of Interceptor, anyone have any tips? I have done quite a bit of research but always looking for more. Thanks.

Ok, I've had another thought. The acro colonies and frags in my tank can be fairly easily removed. I have a few tanks laying around that I could put them in for red bug treatment. The only problem I run into though is red bugs in my current system. This leads me to question, how long will it take for acro eating red bugs to starve in my display tank if I remove all of the acro corals? From what I've read, there is not a lot of life cycle information about red bugs out there, so I'm a little pessimistic about this sort of treatment. Any thoughts?

I didn't have too much problem getting it from my local vet. It just took a little explaining to get over the blank stare she gave me when I told her it was for a fish tank.

I'm actually doing the same thing. I lost my one and only acro last November. My plan was to wait it out and just treat new additions. I haven't tried it yet though (my budget is helping me be patient  ).

My understanding is that crustaseans will not enjoy interceptor. I've noticed some just quarantine the expensive stuff and some people quarantine everything down to hermits.

Ok, so I've procurred a few pills from my vet, and dang they are $$$. I have to pay like $10 per pill. Hopefully I got enough. I had a busy busy day though...I finally hooked up my calcium reactor and there's big frag swap that I have to prepare for tomorrow morning. I'll catch my shrimp out of my tank tomorrow evening if I can and move them over to one of my other tanks for a few days while I treat the red bugs. I guess I'll try to move some hermits out too. I've been doing quite a bit of research, and I'm not all that worried about dosing anymore. Now I just have to make up a ton of water for all the 25% water changes that follow the Interceptor treatment. After I get that done...bye bye little buggers!!!

I've had to do it twice (think I would learn about QT after the first time but no) and though worried quite a bit the first the 3 round treatment, it does work and wouldn't hesitate to do again. It will kill cleaner shrimp if you can't get them out and will knock back the pods though leaves enough that they come back.

I probably only did about 10% water change but believe the carbon is the most important anyways.

yeah, i've been reading up on it a lot and trying to figure out the best method of attack. i think i'm going to do it the dustin dorton way (he made a huge post on here about it). drop in the crushed up pill (in the appropriate amount of course), let it set for 6 hours, do a 25% water change and add carbon, wait 24 hours and do another 25% water change and replace carbon. then i'll wait 7 days and start over, then another 7-14 days until treatment #3. i've been trying to fish my shrimp out of there. i've got two so far (a cleaner and a pep), but i have three more to go (cleaner, pep, and fire). but if i can't get them out, i don't have to worry too much. the fish store i work at can get peps for $4.99, scarlet cleanters for $9.99, and fire shrimp for $15.99, and all this is before my discount which is pretty much holesale cost plus tax.
