SO I finally found the coral eating starfish on the tank glass when I got home from work, in my sps tank...not good...., and I reach in to pluck the ***** out and ZAP!!! my fingertips got bit!!!! I was like WTF so I reached in the other hand thinking it was salt getting in my cuts and ZAP!!!! AH!!! Theres only three devices plugged into my sps tank; a skimmer, a MH fixture (grounded to the cart the tank is on) and a powerhead. So Ima get some vodka in me and go unplug each of the three items till it stops zapping me (I cant find my a amps meter anywhere of course.

Anyone else ever have this?

I had that happen a few years back on a 55 gal and about five things to unplug and get zapped by and of course its always the last one!
I raise catfish for a living and in our hatchery we always have this happen, and no matter how many times it happens, you always have to put your hand in there for a second time, like it wasnt real the first time!

it happens, sometimes it's a heater that got cracked, or a pump that has a slightly frayed cord where it meets the pump. But yeah I do the stupid thing and simply put my finger while unplugging one at a time until I can't feel it anymore. Usually a hangnail or any cut on the hand works wonders to give you that extra sensitivity :D

I'll bet it is the power head or heater. last week we had the same problem with our tile saw pump, I just ran a wire from it to a nail in the ground till i could replace the pump.

Next time just get one of these other guys to hold the nail for you, LOL.

I've been shocked several times, usually by powerheads, and yes, I'm brilliant enough to stick my finger back in there too.
