We have a Monti that we brought home a week ago. It was arough looking piece and we got a good price on it. Now, we have noticed, in some areas it is turning white?? I have never had a Monti, or the Pavona we got also. The Pagoda(Tubinaria) looks as if it is doing the same thing. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
John

This type of damage looks like a predator preying on coral tissue (such as Coralliophila sp. snails). In fact, I see a snail on the Tubinaria photo that might be the culprit. You're going to have to either manually remove the snails (it looks like the one you have in the first photo laid eggs on the Pagoda) or get some wrasses to help eat the snails. Sixlines and Halichores wrasses are reported to eat small snails like this.

Yes. Some people siphon them out, and others use their hands (wear gloves ... some bite!) or tweezers/prongs. Wrasses are the best biological control.
