Just a note to anyone who is suffering from this unsightly problem.

My tank really suffered from the slime and I did two things, one or both of which have completely erradicated the problem.

My favourite solution is simply a lighting issue. I reduced my light-up time by two hours a day to ten hours which is still a lengthy time. I noticed that when the lights were out the slime started to disappear literally before my eyes.

I also added Rowaphos filter sponges to my system.

Apart from these two things nothing else has changed. The fish get fed just as much and all the temperatures, water flows etc are exactly the seem.

I hope this helps someone.

Cool. The Red Slime Remover by Ultralife actually works too, but I don't like adding chemicals unless necessary. Reducing photo period or changing old bulbs works for me. Another thing that might work is elevating pH and alk levels with kalkwasser. Rowaphos is good against most algaes. After using it, I got rid of dinos.
