I have an old dual ballast for my anodized aluminum hood with two 250W Radiums above my 75 gallon reef tank. The ballast is failing and is only firing one, sometimes no lamps at all. Problem is, I cannot find a connector that is compatible with this hood. The connector between the ballast and the hood has five round holes and one flat slot, in a 2x3 rectangular pattern. The hood is an old one, from a company out of California, that I believe was bought out by Coralife. Coralife was less than helpful when I tried calling them.

Does anyone know the connector type I need or where I can find a compatible connector to drive my lamps with a new ballast (IceCap or Lumatek) I realize I can just cut the ends off but I need to know what wires got to what!!! Also once the ends are cut, what connector can I use to wire the new ballast to the old hood?

post a picture, I can probably find the connector. then you have to open the hood and see where the different pins go.

I'm guessing
Light 1 white
light 1 black
light 2 white
light 2 black
ground.

You just need to re-wire the new ballasts with the correct plug.

Connector is irrelevant, you can make your own connector if you want via cutting both ends and putting 1 male plug, and 1 female plug, however people have said that's not good because there's not much contact, but meh... same principle.

Basically just like bingo said :D
