Hi,

I just added a Yellow watchman Goby to my tank a few yesterday - He already went twice in the overflow (being small enough to pass thru the combs at the top of it) - Should I try putting a mesh or just wait for him to realize that there is a perfect home for him in the tank?

Put the mesh in, it's better than possible injury to the fish.

I lost a yellow-headed sleeper goby that way. Didn't realize he was missing until it was too late. Found him DOA in a filter sock. :( I put the same plastic mesh that I moded my skimmer wheel out of over the overflow intakes.

u can also use the white grid stuff u get in the craft section at walmart. I forgot what the stuff is called. Just remember to keep it clean.

Pickup some vinyl gutter guard from your hardware store. You can zip-tie it to you overflow like so:
