re cutting notch in 2x3

I need to cut a notch in a the horizontal portion of the stand in order to connect to a GFCI that I have in the baseboard.

Just wondering if:

a) If I cut the notch in the 2x3 if it will affect the structural integrity of the stand

b) I can get to the outlet but the stand is going to have to be a little further about an 1" more from the wall than I wanted to. I'm setting up a 92 corner.

c) or should I wait until I can get an electrician to move up the gfi along the wall and I won't have that problem anymore?

Maybe you can provide a pic of the proposed cut in the stand?

BTW I had to use a steak knife to cut a hole in the plywood to get to that outlet. Don't tell the wife. I'm a dead man as it is with all of the tubs out in my living room.

Inline: Will post a pic when I can but I think for now the solution is to move it away the extra 1" so that I can get to that outlet.

its best to move it so you can get to if it goes bad you e to repalce it,give ron a call
