Very sadly, my dwarf angelfish went carper surfing - So, two questions:
1) What could lead a fish to jump thru a feeding hole?
2) If I want new Dwarf Angelfish (I think the personnality is great) - Could I attempt introducing two at the same time? If so, what types?

Answers:

1) Stress, lights going on or off suddenly, being chased, stray current in tank, low oxygen.

2) You didn't specify your tank size but offhand I'd say no. Maybe try mixiing two different genus of angels like a Centropyge and possibly a Genicanthus would yield better results. I would not add 2 dwarf angels to anything less than a 6' tank, yes some people do it and get away with it but more often than not you end up with one dead or at best , very stressed pygmy angel.

there are some dwarfs that get along great, and some that won't tolerate ANY other dwarfs in the same tank

fish do not know, nor are they capable of realizing that jumping from your tank may lead to a carpet surf-any fish can jump out from a tank at anmy time for any reason

i recently lost my male peridarion clown to an earthquake spooking him-no other fish seemed to have been bothered by it

in addition to the abovementioned reasons, sometimes fish just simply jump

unless you can sex them (and even this won't guarantee copaceticity, heh), i'd advise against mixing two of the same species in any tank
