Well...both a sad and exciting day for me. Recently I relocated. I upgraded my tank to a 180 gallon custom tank and planned on keeping both it and my nano in my 1 bedroom apartment (i know, crazy right). Well, I got the nano moved over but haven't had time to move the contents of my 90 SPS tank over yet because the 180 wasn't quite finished. I got the nano cube moved over and I hated the way the rocks looked so I got frustrated and decided to get rid of the tank. I figured it would help fund the big tank and I would just transfer over the high end livestock I had in there. Well, the nano looked like crap at first, but it slowly started to come back around. I was getting PE on all my corals, my clams were looking good, and my three fish (two grade A Picassos, and one Helfrichi) were doing well and eating. I came home today to find one little Picasso a pre-digested mess in the corner of the tank. My heart was shattered. I have been having lots of problems at my job (changing jobs soon) and to top it off one of my lovely Picassos kicked the bucket. I also noticed my Helfrichi not eating today and looking rather thin. I felt so depressed immediately. I've bacially lost a $100+ fish with what seems to be a $150 death around the corner. Very sad day.
But, on the flip side, I managed to finish off the lights to my 180. I was doing a custom light rack with T5HO and I was having hell finding all the appropriate parts. But, it's done...or at least at a working point. I still have to clean up the wiring and mount the ballasts, but that can all be done at a later time.
Just a sad day for me. The light thing cheered me up to some extent, but it's never fun flushing $100 down the toilet. The good thing is though I do work at a LFS and the Picassos are wholesale about half what they typically resell for. Same pretty much goes for the Helfrichi and we just so happen to have one in stock. I doubt he'll sell, as he's been there a while, but later this month I might be getting him as a replacement. But what does suck is we did sell our one and only Picasso pair we had at the store. They looked great and were still quite young. Oh well, hopefully we can get more.
Just wanted to share my story.
