Geeze didn't you learn that right after a shower, you go directly to put clothes on, don't admire the tank in the buff!

lol omh its so nice to see adults talk about spawning on such a level :) SO the water change caused it? Ive always been fascinated with what triggers spawning in a tank.

I might be mistaken, but in many commercial hatcheries they use water of a different temp/salinity/etc to trigger spawning, everything from clams to geoducks! :D

I don't think you're mistaken about that, I believe you are spot on.

AWESOME, B, unbelievable how a guy who's gone half the year or more can get spawning clammage. :D

after reading a paper on the rearing of clams, commercial hatcheries use three methods.
Heat shock,
clam gonads,
seritonin (sp)

heat shock, they take the clams out of the water and let them sit on a dry table for a couple of hours. when they put them back in the water, they spawn.

a clam gets cut open and it's gonads put in a blender. inject the liquid or seritonin into the live clams gonads and it will spawn.

I had my clam out scrubbing some algea off the shell. It was out of the tank (and into old tank water from the water change) for less than two minutes.
