What is the best material to use as the protection between your reef tank water and the halide lighting?
I have 2 x 250W 20K Radiums on my 75 Gallon reef and replaced the original plexiglas with some bought from Home Depot. It was thinner and subsequently warped slightly from the heat. The hood is a powder coated formed aluminum hood with a cooling fan.
My question is: what is the best type of material for the barrier under your metal halides and what thickness should it be?
I have heard of UG-4 Plexiglas as a good choice. Anyone know where to get it? What thickness should it be?
The material should block some UV light but allow the good wavelengths in so material choice and thickness both play a part.
Appreciate hearing what people are using out there, what thickness and where did you get it from.
