Mods...not sure this is the right place, but if it isn't can you please move it.

As most of you know, Hurricane Ike just pounded the Texas coastline. A lot of people are without power and water. Some places are flooded or badly wind damage and others are perfectly fine. I am fortunate in that I have regained both water (although pressure is very low) and electricity. My tank didn't suffer any losses, but I fear for others in this area of Texas.

I am located in Baytown, Tx and I have power and water to spare. If anyone needs help or needs me to house any fish or corals for the time being I will gladly do so. Also, if there is anyone else who has power or a generator that can house livestock for others less fortunate, please announce so on here. I fear that many tanks in the are will be without power for several days, if not weeks more. So, I urge you to help your fellow reefers and lend a helping hand.

Also, there are several posts on Marshreef.com regarding local power outages and others willing to help.

update:

i've done pretty much anything i can. i've loaned out my generator, but that clearly only helps one other person's situation. i've had phone calls for help, but with gas so low in my car and mile long lines at the pumps, it's hard to get mobile to help people.

i was informed today that a friend of mine who lives in seabrook, texas has a 400 gallon reef and lost everything. the list included a gem tang, conspic angel, leukokranos clowns, etc. it was a very high dollar tank obviously, and he lost it all. and from what i've been hearing, insurance won't cover the loss of aquarium livestock  . i may be wrong, or heard some bad info, but regardless, it's a horrible story. i know another lady (also from seabrook) who lost two reef tanks and two freshwater tanks. a few other people in the greater houston area also lost all their livestock. a couple of other friends lost most or all of their livestock as well.

i've offered my tank for housing, as well as a few empty tanks i have laying around. but the problem with my situation is that my tank (that i upgraded to) is only a few weeks old. of course the liverock and came from my 90, so i experienced minimal cycle and had no die off, but the fact still remains that the tank is so you and isn't stable enough.

if anyone that is local can help, please let me know and i'll pass on the message. even if you're not local, your help will still be accepted.

here's the link to our local website: http://www.marshreef.com/

again, all help is greatly appreciated.
