I've been on this site for more than a year, before i started a reef tank, and before i met alot of the people that frequent this site. I've seen alot of different reef setups and every one is unique and interesting, and all very proud of their little pieces of the ocean in their homes.

I recently read an article on nano setups where the author stated that (and this is paraphrased) in larger setups the beauty and importance of the smaller reef creatures is sometimes lost or forgotten, the importance and intrigue of a pod scurrying its way across a rock in search of food becomes significant in a smaller tank setup. For some reason this started my gears turning on the methodology of my tank and what i'm trying to accomplish and looking back on peoples tanks i have seen and what they have done.

Personal preference, likes/dislikes, ease of maintenance all play a part in what people have been keeping in their tanks and what they enjoy more from their little biotypes in their homes. But, between the macro shots and explaining what they have hooked up to their tanks to make them run, people don't explain why they run certain setups, whether it be SPS only or mixed reef, or why people tend to or not tend to balance their fish/inverts with their coral for the full effect of trying to replicate all the checks and balances of the reef food chain.

Thought this would be something interesting and could bring some discussion on the different ways of going about a reef setup. I walked in blindly into the hobby as far as seeing the different roads you can go in producing a reef tank =0)

I was thinking picture with a description of their reef theory with pro's/cons or something.
