Think that's the thing, once established they're okay.

I got one that had been with a follow reefer for a year+ and placed in a 20g macro fuge that I isolated as a QT tank. Put a skimmer on the tank, water changes etc but fish died after 18 days.

Mine was pretty hardy but like to pick at my clam and SPS's.
He/She also like to bully around the other tank mates, including my Dwarf Zebra Lion.
Beautiful fish though!

alot of potters land here heavily coated with flukes-if they've been mostly cleaned up by the previous coc (wholesaler/importer, retailer), and are acting in typical dwarf angel fashion (the occasional 'body twitch',eyes alert and always scanning, w/occasional pecks on surfaces), you're prob'ly good to go :)

i would recommend giving all of the centropyges a fw dip, at the minimum, before placing into a main tank-better even a proper fw dip protocol w/praziquantel-i've found all of the centropyges to tolerate dipping very well, on the whole

once acclimated, all of the centropyges are good solid fish-they simply often develop tastes for things we'd rather they not eat, heh

if they're in decent condition, any centropyge should be eating prepared foods within hours after transfer to a new tank-many will begin to pick at microalgae, pods, etc within minutes after being tanked ;)

the whole 'acclimation' issue is more likely one of the fish still dealing with internal issues from transport, etc (residual damages) that it simply caves to after purchase (sometimes it can be a decompression issue, can be ammonia burn from shipping-the list is long)

flame angels will pick flake out of your hand while swimming in a fw dip, heh.
potter's are just about as tough but land in rougher shape in general, ime

Yeah my last dwarf angel got a taste for my SPS polyps after over 5 years in the tank....go figure.

I am gonna try a flame in my tank. I am worried most about the clams, not really the corals.

Ditto on this. After working with fish coming from wholesalers covered in flukes I'm amazed they live at all.

Read up on proper procedure for doing a FW dip and if you do one and are getting a lot of flukes consider doing a very short one the first time, giving the fish a day or two to heal then doing another longer one. The possibly hundreds of microscopic puncture wounds left by flukes that drop off can cause the fish to bleed out.

The place I work at we now do low salinity in our fish only tanks and its done wonders for health of the fish at least as far as parasites go. You should always check the SG of a store's holding tanks and adjust up accordingly however.

That's exactly what I've seen. Never actually owned one myself, but handled a few. They can be pretty obnoxious at times, and if you want and have those corals/clams, don't be precious about them being picked on.

Ape...! So, was that the last exotic treat you tried in the kitchen?
