So, we had some severe weather with numerous power "blinks". My Octopus pum on my Recirc 150 wont power up when I plug it in. Think it seized up? just over heated??

Is there a fuse in it? (didn't think so)

Thanks for any insight

take the impeller out, first thing see if the ceramic shaft is stuck, if so, soak in vinegar, etc (something you should do anyways).

Second look at the magnet itself, do you see stress lines running the same direction as the shaft? If they overheat the magnets can bulge outward. No fix for this other than replacing the impeller.

You will feel like a real Fozz if you crack the sump bottom by hitting the powerhead with your hand.

regular vinegar soakings of ANY pump are usually recommended to break down any build up of calcium and/or alkalinity material. (every few months at most)

sfsuphysics is right soak it in vinegar and get the calicum deposits out. Otherwise next time the power goes out you might be in the same situation.

It wansn't the powerhead that was stuck it was the main recirc pump. And I'm running it external from the sump :)
