I have a crocea clam that I've had for over a year that is stuck to a rock that I really hate.

I placed it on that rock when I got it for a few mins and when I got back it was stuck!

Is there a safe way to remove it from where it is stuck? It isn't buried in the rock.. just stuck..

Thanks

That's the foot of the clam and it's holding on. If you yank it off you'll rip it's innards out and most likely kill the clam. If it's a smooth surface, you can use a razor blade to cut the individual tendrils , however with your rock I'm guessing not. Live with the rock, or sell the clam + rock.

a couple of options:

-place some direct flow on the clam or put in under a ledge and it will let go or loosen it's grip so it can move...you come in a move it manually.

-you can cut the foot and even tear it if need be. the clam will become stressed out, but the foot will regrow. i've seen this done before and the clam survived and went on to live for a long time after that. it's not recommended, but it can work. i certainly don't suggest doing it, but the option is available.

-option 3, break up the rock it's on and leave just the tiny piece it's attached too.

If you can see the strings that it is attached to the rock and have enough space to worik around, you can do what I did by using a thin sharp knife (the disposible one that you snap off as the blade get dull, the plastic is orange in color, and there is a black thumb slider that retracts the blade... don't know what it is called) and cut off the attachment as close to the rock as possible. Do not pull or tug on the clam to get it off the rock
