Wet-dry and nitrates

Hi. I know wet-dry filters are not recommended for reefs but we are having a discusion about it in a Mexican forum. Our information is out-dated and there are people that think wet-drys are actually good for reefs

We have cited Delbeck opinion without success do you have an article or something to be posted there to convince them? We need articles written by authorities in the field.

Hi Luis,

I think you are going to be hard pressed to find something written by 'authority' that will support your position - if they have ignored Charles I am not sure what to tell them. I think also that there is a lot of old info that says use wet drys!
FWIW, wet dries are not bad for reefs, its really just that they aren't necessary, the space can be better used, and if not maintained well can cause problems.

It is not fair, true, but that would be assuming that he truly believes he's misleading people. The one thing I've learned is that there are those who, despite all "wisdom" to the contrary, are able to grow fish in atrocious conditions, bring about spawning/breeding of animals no one's figured how to breed yet, or just do things completely counter to what logic and science tell us they should be, yet still succeed.

If his argument is truly unsound and he cannot support it, then it will come out in the wash.
