xenia under MH

Hi. I got two xenias three days ago. The elongata is doing fine but the Pom-pom is a different story: The store had it in a very dark place, the stalk was long and has only four polyps.... when I asked for it the owner gave it to me as a gift well I place it in my tank under the shade because I have Metal halides... next day I move it to the center of the tank right over the sand and it get shorter and started to pulse.... today it looks even shorter and I´m not sure I´m doing the right thing....

If it was in a dim light tank do I have to move it slower toward the light? I have 175w MH and the space between the light and the coral is about 35 inches now.

I really want the best for this Pom-pom and I don´t want to screw it.

The slower acclimation the better for xenia coming from Dim lighting. IME I have seen flow impact xenia more then anything else. A nice current to keep it moving and swaying has much benifit.

FWIW...Mine have traditionally done better with higher light (once acclimated to it) and lots and lots of flow. I had a small piece I had forgotten about lying in the bottom of the tank that I thought was dying/dead, it was retracted and had shriveled to the point it was hard to tell what type of coral it was. I moved it up in the tank (over the a weeks time). It recovered and is splitting nicely now.

ok I will move it up little by little.... the question now is: how close it can get from the 175w MH. I think too close can burn it ... maybe...
