Sorry to hear that. I hate when a fish just disappears. My breeding pair of German Blue Rams did that.

I left for a weekend to come back and find both of my clownfish MIA. One was behind the tank, the other I never found after tearing the tank apart. Only had two hermits and a few snails so they must have done the job quickly. Sad too, they were my first clowns.

Oh God! That means all you'll find is some ID, possibly a few bone fragments, and a really expensive jogging suit.

While visiting my parents over Xmas, I looked through a box of old CDs. Wedged between two of the CDs was my favorite 6-line wrasse that I had bought for them. For reference, we had taken their tank down about 4 years ago and the fish had been missing for years before that. It was a long wait, but I felt a weird sense of peace at having solved such a long-forgotten mystery. It's really too bad that I water-boarded the brittle star all those years ago trying to get him to confess to the crime.

They pointed out that we had it before my 9 year old daughter, and it was a breeding adult when I got her (and the mate), so I think the old age explanation is plausible. She has been going downhill for about a year, and two weeks ago had some eye problem (which resolved). They wondered where she went, but took it in stride.

The partially decomposed body of the clownfish washed up to the front of the tank this morning. We are currently trying to establish a positive ID from its dental records.

One time I was looking everywhere for my Blue cromis but could not find him anywhere! Looked all around the tank, under the tank, in the rocks, all over.... I came to the conclusion that someone or something ate him.

Well, it turns out that about a week later I found in the overflow box that I drilled, swimming agains the current entering the 1-1/2 pvc pipe leaving the overflow box to the sump. Must have been trying not to go down the drain for a week. I felt really bad.
