My skimmer pump stopped working. It caused the breaker to flip off, and cleaning it didn't fix it. It is a Rio 1700. Any recommendations for a replacement? How would upgrading the gph affect my skimmer?

Lose the Rio, they are known for this. Get a Sedra or an Aquabee with a similar rating.

Try Ocean runner 2700.

Marine Depot has the Eheim needle wheel pumps, but they are pricey.

Thanks Anemonebuff. I researched your recommendations and the eheims are more than I'm willing to spend at the moment. I see an ocean runner 2500 with a similar flow rate to the rio for $57, so I think I'll go with that.

Good call.

And I'd toss that Rio, after cutting off the cord. ;)
