I ordered a new expensive skimmer for my tank, many online venders carry these skimmers. I ordered it from the one that was closest to my house becuase I would get it the fastest, and the site said it was instock. I ordered it Ocober the 14th. Never got a shipping notice so I emialed them. They responded that they sold the last one they had in stock right before I ordered it....Hmmm ok. They also said that they needed to update the site to show out of stock later that day...fine. So I ask for a ETA and they tell me I would have it within a week. A week later, still no skimmer. I didnt bother emailing them but noticed on their website it never was changed to out of stock. In fact it still says in stock now. So last week i emailed them again and was told their shippment was scheduled to be in "this week" and I would have my tracking number anyday. Still no tracking number or skimmer...and its Nov. 4th, this skimmer was $1100, not cheap and I only ordered from them since it was "in-stock".

Does this not seem like they keep it always listed as in-stock to get orders and then just special order them to make the sales? I am getting ready to cancel and order from someone that really has it in-stock.

I'd calmly explain that you NEED the skimmer for livestock (if you do) and ask for a refund.

Order it from a place with a great track record.


BUT to answer your question.. YES it bothers me... its EXACTLY what happend when I ordered my Octopus Recirc 150 from www.octopusskimmer.com

I dont really need it right away, my old skimmer works fine. I am just bothered by the pricipal of it all. I feel like I ma being lied to here. I have pruchased through them a few times and the first order I got a wrong item, second order went fine, and this is my third.

I havent had much luck recently with online ordering. I ordered a bunch of stuff from abother vender a month or so ago including a bottle of Revive. The bottle cap came halfway open in shipping and everything in the box got soaked in revive, so I have a pinesol smelling wet box on my door step. I complain to the company, they usually tape or bag liquid supplements. They ask for pictures, so I send pictures of everyting. The wet box, bottle of revive which I explained the lid came unscrewed etc...

After they got those pictures they send an email asking for a picture that proves the bottle is empty...my reply was basically if I am trying to rip you off on a $7 bottle of revive I would just funnel it in a bowl and then take the picture and then funnel it back in its bottle. I dont understand why they need such proof when they got pictures already showing everything wet, on a cheap product with a customer that has been spending literally thousands of dollars for years with them. They refunded me in the end but I dont want to shop there anymore, I mean come on, is it worth losing a good customer over a $7 bottle of coral cleaner.

I just don't understand the mentality of these on-line venders. I own a retail toy store and although I get taken once and a while I go out of my way to make sure my customer leaves happy and would be happy to refer me to their friends....

I am going to e-mail them and tell them since their site still says instock, and they have made many promises if they cant ship it this week to cancel my order.

I can understand your frustration. I know in my line of business, when we say it is in stock, it better be in stock. I'd ask the vendor for some concession, or maybe just cancel your order and buy from another vendor. Vote with your money.

That sucks! I probably wouldn't have ordered from them after the bottle incident.

I'd cancel the order, as I don't think they deserve your business.

For a higher end skimmer like that I'd take my business elsewhere as many places have free shipping for really expensive goods.

I am going to e-mail them now. On a different note, I shouldnt post from work while I am on lunch...talk about typos lol.

The bottle incident and the skimmer order were from two different venders. The revive issue was from a long time sponcor here so I wont name names, as anyone who supports the board shouldnt be bad mouthed here.

I ordered the skimmer from Aquarium Specialty. Just to complain a little further the other order of mine they messed up was an order for test kits and they sent the wrong brand. I explained to them I ordered a certain brand to check my other kits. They told me sorry that they sent the wrong one and to ship it back to them USPS. I know it would have been cheap to send back but why should a customer have to pay anything to ship back something that was the stores fault. If it was my store I would have tod the customer to keep the wrong kit I sent and I would send a new one for free, yes I would lose money on the sale that way but would I gain a lot of customer loyalty that way. A repeat customer is what makes you money, not a one time customer. I never want to give my customers reasons to shop around because I know I have compition and they may never come back.

Oh geez! I'm surprised it was Aquarium Specialty. Scott has given me great customer service the times I've dealt with them.

However, in today's market...

While I wont badmouth the company either I remember when the wireless drivers came out for the vortech pumps, they were spamming up RC's vendors board (Ecotechs) pretty good and almost going so far as to making it seem like they were the ONLY place that carries them. Well I got mine, and yeah I had to wait and wait for them due to stock issues.

Well I emailed him and said if he cant get it to me this week to cancel my order. I checked and I actually ordered it Oct 9th, so its almost been a month. :roll:

I had to help my local cops bust a travel agency who was pulling **** like this and embezzling $$ from people who were booking trips through them. Some were out the vacation of their life (literally) because they waited on taking action......

Don't be that person, take action to protect yourself now.
