What's the wave box going to cost you? You have to ask yourself is the ability to make some waves going to outweigh the cost of maybe 2 powerheads or the RK2 + A powerhead??

I would go for the RK elite lol. I sold my wavebox, I just dont like the realestate they take up in the tank and think unless your tank has built in waveboxs they are ugly in the tank, JMO.

I've noticed that more prefer the AquaController over the ReefKeeper. Is there a difference in function and quality?

Depends upon what version you're talking about Karl, both basically do the same thing, it's simply a matter of the little things and support.

I have the RKE, and really don't care for it because it's not what I need now, I don't need pH control, I don't need oRP control, what I did want is the ability to record the history of what my tank is doing, but that's not a feature that was released initially, and who knows how long until it is, but it'll probably cost more money to be able to do it.

Well as far as the FUNCTION of a wave maker... I'm having MRC make me a 120 tank custom with the overflow in the center .. IF i go wave maker. A nano wavemaker would suffice according to the guy at Tunze. I can get them new for $350.

The RK2 is about $270 new. I have some modded mj1200's I could use for now, but I really would like higher end stuff on this tank. Now I'm wishing I haden't sold my Tunzes a year or so ago.

My constellation light doesn't have built in timers.. so that would be a cost too .. withought the RK2.

Well light timers are cheap... $10 or so at your local big box home improvement stores. If you have any sort of temperature issues, having a controller is nice especially if you don't have a chiller with a built in thermostat, having the ability to flip a fan on automatically, or even shut down your lights is very nice. For me the biggest desire out of a controller is the ability to monitor and record the parameters over time, so if something bad is happening I can see "oh the pH is slowly rising ... what could be causing that..."

Personally, I'd go with the pump without going the wavebox route, either a vortech or tunze 61xx pump.
