Does the Blue Lined Surgeon Fish usually breathe rapidly?! Or it is a sign of stress!? I recently got one and it has been in the tank for a couple of days now. She is swimming fast and breathing fast as well. No bleeching, no signs of white spots... But I just noticed it breaths faster then other fish. Any comment?

What size tank do you have?

That fish will need at least a 125 gallon tank.

Yes, heavy breathing can be a sign of stress.

J,
I thought you were going for a different type of tang, John. Either way, just watch the animal, especially during feeding. If it's eating as it should, then just make certain you have a high flow rate in your tank (as I recall it's a 350gal system, yes?). Ask Unleashed about tangs and high flow.

The tang will be in my 75G for the next few weeks untill the 350G is finished. I though of getting it before and see if it has any parasite or whatever. Like that, when the new tank is finished, I putt it directly there without having to buy it new and QT it. Got my point?

In deed I was going for a diffrent type of tang, but I saw it and liked it. She looks pretty. I got a Lined Surgeon, Chocolate Tang and a Sailfin. I know the tank is small for them now. But as if they are in a QT now and in few weeks they will get a new home. Hopefully they will make it untill the new tank is finished!! :D Wish me luck!!

I do have a hight flow. It is 75G with 3 power head in it. That is supposed to make some flow. Plus some Oxygene heads in there.

She is not eating when I throw food in the tank. Maybe she is not used to it yet? Or just stressed because the tank is overstocked? The Sailfin looks fine. And the Convict is also looking good. Yet the Lined one and the Chocolate one are maybe aclimating hardly?

Yeah, but I completely DON'T get putting an animal into another display as a form of quarantine.

J,
You put all three fish into the 75 display at the same time, or what? If the fish isn't eating, it's not happy. A hungry fish is a healthy fish, and if this is the case then something's wrong. Honestly, at this point, without knowing more about the timing, the 75, etc., I think you're going too fast.

Three powerheads at what flow rate? Three means nothing to me. You want to create OCEAN flow, and that means, in a 75, basically 'the toilet bowl effect'. Contact Unleashed, she knows her tangs, I'm tellin' you.
