I watched the video and when ever I have had that happen it was a broken impeller shaft or one of the little rubber ends werent placed right. Yet you said you checked it and the shaft was fine so I dont know, doesnt seem like the pump is broken though have you tryed cleaning the air inlet?

Is that fresh water in the skimmer? That would effect it also, when i run my recirculating pump in fresh water it doesnt produce foam but larger bubbles.

Either cavitation, or the impeller is not balanced and shakes excessively.

I might misspelled it. It is noise generated by a moving object thru water at high speed. It is common when the intake of a powerhead/pump is restricted.

I'd say the impeller is the feller.

Get a new one, see if the noise stops.

If it does not - curse loudly and put the new impeller on ebay.

Uh no. Cavatation is vapor pockets forming and colapsing due to low suction pressure. It often sounds like you are trying to pump rocks. It will damage an impeller over time.

The impeller is only 1 week old. It ISNT the impeller.

I'm going to sell the octopus and buy a euro reef n be done with it.

I just replaced my euro-reef RS135. It was a decent skimmer but I wanted to try something new. Now I have an empty sump, skimmer, 75 gal tank, and MH lighting system in my closet. On top of the big rubbermaid tubs full of powerheads and such.

Which euroreef are you looking at? I didnt really like the pump that was the recirculating pump on it, although some have the eheim recirculating pumps which should be better then the one mine came with.

Maybe check out the ASM line if you'd want another inexpensive ER alternative?

I have an ASM G3 sitting in my closet also. It was fine...but looks like you already got the ER so you should be set. I just cleaned my old ER for a new setup, thinking seahorse/pipefish display.
