The story is like this, my new 30 breeder is through its cycle so I got the idea I would get me a nice rock with some mushrooms on it to see how it goes, so I pick out this one at my local LFS with pretty red and blue/green mushrooms on it and a ton of coralline. Well I get it home and start acclimating the piece in the styrofoam container I used to bring the piece home in and all is well so far la dee dah de. So after I get done with my acclimation I go to put the piece in the tank and I notice several brittle stars attached to it. 8O oops did not expect those. But wait it gets better, or worse I'm starting to feel now, when I move the rock up a little more (much to my dismay) out pops a lawnmower blennie as well. 8O 8O So holy crap what should I do now with the urmm extra items. :D

This is why you need to do a freshwater dip follow with bleach and sun-drying before putting anything in the tank.... ;)

 Geese guys, theres not even enough algae in the tank to help feed a blennie. Do you think I ought to just feed him and give it a go, or catch him (if I can) and take him back to the store and say oops?

Try feed him first, if catching him is a hassle. If he is starving and won't eat, then you should return him back to the store, etc.

I think I will give it a go, at the very least I will gain some knowledge about him and if I feel he needs to go back to better care (maybe, I wonder about some LFS) I will do so. I think him falling out of that piece of liverock/coral and the newness of my tank made me feel a bit rushed. Thanks for the advice Dupa. :D

Update: My surprise lawnmower blennie hitchhiker was out today and rasping on the rocks and eating, so far looking good. The brittle star hitchhikers seem ok as well and no disintegraton's, so they must have traveled and acclemated well.
