Well a few hours ago I was sitting here thinking my tank is to loud and if I trim back that overflow pipe it would be quite. So I see my sawzaw sitting here and am like thats easy enough I can cut it with out any problem.
So I go over the sawzaw barley fits so I start chopping away holding the pipe with one hand and cutting with the other, eventually I am holfway through and it wont go becuase the fit is to tight. So I go and look for a small saw and see my loppers for my shrubs. Ok so I get them in there and finish the cut, pulling them out I cut my hose on my LM3 float valve. Just irritating but fixable. During this the bulkhead also came lose and started leaking, i retightened it and all was fine.
So them I add a little 45 degree coupling and am on my way, till I look up at the display. I notice a freaking ton of PVC shards/scraps what ever its called floating all over my SPS tank. Not only that but the fish going nuts eating it, like it was the best thing since mysis shrimp. Then I notice the SPS all extending the polyps and catching these PVC bits. Arrrg, so I go and get a filter sock and through it on. All my live rock has these PVC bits getting in it, and the fish and corals still going nuts so I turn the lights off figuring that will atleast get the fish to go to sleep and stop eatting PVC.
After I get the majority of it out I am looking at my tank and realize a few of the rocks shifted, probably from the vibrations from the sawzaw. Hmmm its very out of place to me even though it was a small shift. So I go to try to shift them back a bit and cant get it right, keep moving one and then oops I bump the one on the left which flips off its spot landing upside down on my bare bottom and although alls I have is growing frags alls I hear is crunch...uggg.
So on that rock I had a pink setosa, a tyree ponape, a pink jade, a pink lemonade, and two variations of rainbow monti. The encrusters were fine but the ponape got trashed, the pink jade snapped off clean, but the setosa my favorite of course snapped in a bunch of small pieces. The pink lemonade was fine. I also broke another branch off my tort and the frag fell back into the rocks somewhere.
So I cleaned up the pieces and tryed super glueing them back together the best I could.
But WOW what else could have gone wrong, I still havent gotten the rock set up right and since I had a nice amount of SPS in there some things look like they are shaded to much now or turned to far down so I am going to wait untill the morning then try to carefully fix my aquascape but this is such a bummer....time to take some sleeping pills and hit the sack.
All because I tried to take a shortcut now all my fish ate PVC and my SPS got smashed....
