i just picked up a gbta and upon closer inspection, i have some questions. the tentacles, mouth and general apperance is good. inide of the tentacles however are golden brown squiggly lines and the tentacles appear like they have "kinks" in them (sorta like a tube that was bent but then straightend) i have never observed this before anywhere and i was wondering if anyone here may have some insight. thanks.

those are its guts, i think called mesentary glands. they are normal but they should not be visible normally. the mouth should not be gaping open like that, anemones do that when theyre unhealthy. sometimes new anemones will do that for a few days after you add it to the tank. if it has been like this for a long time, you need to do some water changes because the anemone is not happy.

the guts inside the tentacles? please understand my question. there are no guts protruding from the anemone nor is the mouth open. at this point i think it is just a mutation suffering from some genetic defect. some of the tentacles appear to have one base split into two healthy whole ends. here are some pics.

please observe the massive tentacle towards the center and others that appear to bend at 90 degrees at the tip. in other words, the tip do not follow the line of the tentacle. could it have been sucked into a powerhead at one point? it looks like the gold lines inside the actual tentacles did not get captured. sorry.

I have several anemones and I have witnessed this "swelling" before and it is infact...swelling. It may have been injured and it fixing the damaged tissue or it may be the tentacles preparing to grow longer. I noticed my long tentacle anemone would shrivel and swell up one day to the point where it looked dead, then the point where it looked like it was going to pop! The next day it would be about a 3rd larger.

Anemones are weird and do weird things. Im sure this isnt a defective anemone. If you acclimated it correctly and have enough lighting and water clarity you should be fine. As for the "guts" being visible...If it lost some of its Photosynthetic algae, the innards of the anemone may be visible. Anemones are polyps and polyps themselves are transluscent/transparent. Its the algae that give them color. Or the lines being visible may be reffering to wrinkling lines. Thats just becuase it hasnt taken in enough water for the tissue to fully expand.
