It's a corkwing wrasse (Symphodus (or Crenilabrus) melops) and apparently (according to the interwebs) not only a native fish to the UK, but one that is common as far north as Norway.

Just what I thought. FWIW, I've never seen one in a fishmonger, but then again, we don't really eat that much fish in this country. :roll:
