So- I'm back in the game. Just bought a house, and I'm installing an aquarium. Since my job causes me to travel frequently, I bought a "neptune aquacontroller". On of the things this monitors is oxidation reduction potential. I remember this term from 10th grade chemistry. I understand ORP's definition, but I can't apply it to its effect on a marine aquarium. Any ideas? Haha!!!!!!! :-D

Here is an old talk on orp.

Basically if you are using Ozone then an opr controller can turn this on and off as appropriate. If not having an ORP reading can tell you when something might be off in your water, if you have a normal reading and one day it suddenly drops then you know something is wrong with the water chemistry.
