Who is the brand to go with these days for long-lasting heavy duty pumps?

I need to be able to empty a 44 gallon trashcan of RO water into several large chambers many times a week.

Thanks!

Eheim was recommended to me as a workhorse for my skimmer.

I've used sequence for big external pumps. Might be overkill for what you want though.

Iwaki's were what I was thinking of. For some reason I kept getting confused and thinking they were called Iwasaki's but those are the MH lights.

I forgot, they all need to be submersible.

Are Rio pumps okay?

rio pumps are okay. Just okay :) Get a supreme mag drive, a 7 will prolly do, but a 9 will work faster. If you are just moving water around, you don't need to shell out more money for an Iwaki. Those are for the serious jobs :P

I'm a big fan of Eheims. I've got two 1262's on my tank, and I use another to mix salt water in a 20 gallon trash can.

Eheims are very nice with a solid history. Mag drives are a bit less money and also are decent work horses.
