Went to feed my reeftank this morning and noticed my copperband butterfly was missing from the usual feeding frenzy. Took a few minutes but I found him.........halfway inside my long tenticle anemone. :( It's resident clownfish looking non too happy about it. Both of these guys have been in the tank for over two years. Only can guess that sometime last night in the dark, the copperband stumbled into the anemone. Anyone else ever lost a fish this size in a similat manner?

I've heard customer stories about things like that many time over the last 15 or 20 years. I would say I've heard at least 10 people tell me they lost a fish to an anemone in their aquarium. Sometimes though, when it is a smaller fish that just dies in the aquarium, a clownfish will sometimes grab the fish and feed it to the anemone. Not likely to be the case with your copperband, but it does happen as well. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Thanks for your stories. I guess I'll chalk it up to nature taking it's course inside my own little slice of ocean. The Copperband was one of my favorite fish. Seen others in the LFSs, but none ever looked as healthy as mine. Well at least up until this morning. :P

I got rid of my carpet after it ate about 5-6 fish of various sizes.
