anyone else have algae only growing in small clumps?

i dont get it, i have hair algae but it only grows in three small clumps but never spreads around in the tank. is this normal? i thought if you get algae it will grow all over your tank.

Are the patches localized or are spread out around the tank? Probably those spots are leaching PO4 or are just simply better for the algae to grow for other reasons (little coralline growth/lower than average flow, etc)

my patches are spread out. they are high light and high flow areas too which is weird.

Is it typical HA or do you think it is byropsis?
