I know there are better kits available, but I have been buying API recently (cost and availability local). Before now I have never used them but I am guessing they are middle of the road as far as accuracy goes, but perhaps others say differently?

Actually, the api test kits especially for ammonia, nitrItes, nitrates, and KH are fine. I do use seachem and salifert for calcium and magnesium though. And the salifert phosphate is much better at reading low levels.

Unless you want super precision, I think the API test kits have a better track record than some of the high end kits, however that could also be due to people not knowing any better.

From info from another forum that one member BillyBuea, test test kits, API Alk, and Ca are very good, plus the price is right, except, on the Ca test kit the first bottle you add 10 drops, then to get to your color for the amount of Ca you is 1drop times 20of bottle B, so if your Ca is 400 you need 20 drops to get there, but here is the kicker, both bottles are the same size!!! I have emailed API about this and why not have bottle B twice as large, I got the stupid run around on it.

Forgot to mention, I use the API Alk and Ca test kits, and RC salt, the results I get on those test is right on with what RC salt sez and others get with other kits.
