I don't know why these other two are dancing around what should be said simply--those are BS bulbs, they will not even grow houseplants. You have been duped. You can replace directly into the fixture that takes that bulb CFL bulbs. May not look too pretty, but they will be effective. Did you read what I told you in your other thread on lighting? If not, go take a look.

I can't say how long the seagrass will last with those bulbs. But I can assure you that the bulb you linked a picture to will not suffice. It's an incandescent bulb with a coating on it, that's it. Did you read what I told you in the other thread about CFL bulbs?

I already said I don't know. Might, might not, I don't know how long it's gone without proper lighting, how it looks now, whether or not it's eating up the nitrogen and other food stored in its tissues. There is no way for me to know. However, what I don't understand is why you don't just buy a couple of 100W CFLs and toss them into the hood before you leave. Even the neighbor should be able to accomplish that much, I mean, it's literally just changing a light bulb.

Yeah man, just give her $10, that should cover the cost of a two-pack. Have a good trip, and hopefully everything will be ok when you return. :)

Let me dance around a bit more here. I am pretty sure your sea grass will be fine in two weeks, but if you don't think it is too much hassle, do what that tactless, but good natured lady said. ;)

k im bac and i did give her the money but she said she couldnt find them  bummer so now im going to look at a few stores tomorrow i would go today but around me everything closes at 6 on sunday before i left i saw that there was a small new leat growing on one of the turtle grasses now that i am bac it is about 5 inches taller! is that because of the grow lights? that is the only one that i actually remembered seeing before i left so i cant really tell if any others grew. and i read somewhere that when you first get them that the old leaves may die of and new ones will grow?? is this true?? because some of the leaves are starting to die is this beacause of the poor lighing or is it natural in part of them getting used to the aquarium??

I don't know, perhaps someone who's grown the seagrass can answer. But, you're back now, so how about you just go ahead and try changing one bulb, see what happens?

6500K fl. bulbs are much, much better than the incandies. It will be better for your tank and your wallet. I don't see any reason for leaving the ham-warmer in there. Do you?

The problem with small community like RDO is that you will be known for the rest of your username's life as the one who used a ham warmer for seagrass.

Just kidding.
