I've always liked the idea of doing an aquarium with a big old carpet anenome and percs, surrounded by swaying seagrass, replicating the natural environment*, so this is interesting, thanks for posting.

*BTW, this always made me think seagrass would probably benefit from the strongest light it could get - metal halide if possible...

Often a symptom of new tank syndrome. How's your circulation? Often increasing water flow can help dissipate it.

You can sometimes get patches of cyano, even in tanks with good flow, if there are "dead spots" where the flow is not so good. First check you don't have any dead spots.

Also, what do you mean by a lot of circulation?

well i have a powerhead, the filter which gives off some flow and my skimmer gives off quite a lot of flow for a skimmer so like basically every part of the tank has at least a little bit of flow in there

From what you're saying, I'm guessing one of the Maxijets or similar? That is not what most people would call a lot of flow. You might want to think about adding another powerhead of similar size, thinking about where your powerhead/skimmer return/return pump provide least flow.
