Last night, I FW-dipped the crocea that showed the symptoms that chris&barb outlined, and the clam responded very quickly. Today, that clam looks much improved: no signs of mantle pinched inward and no more slime filaments. I'm surprised to see how quickly the FW dip acted.
It seems the key to this is catching it quick and doing a FW dip before the clam starts to decline. I probably should have dipped the show clam.
