coral names

Can anyone give me a good source for learning the names of corals. reading some of the posts on here it almost sounds like you guys are speaking a different language sometimes.

I'd recommend Eric Borneman's guide to Coral. It has both, plus really good general information. It's the book I recommend above all others for those wanting to keep coral.

I used to use Liveaquaria as a main source for figuring out what things looked like, then I realized even the "pros" in the hobby are sometimes hard pressed to know what corals they are, and I'm happy to see things going more towards the "Acropora sp." rather than making a guess that a 4 inch minicolony that showed up is Acropora granulosa (or whatever)

I like Julian Sprungs coral guide. I also find www.coralidea.com incredibly useful.
