How to weigh LR?

This question has bothered me a long time:shhh:, as ppl certainly don't want to pay for the water in it.

Some places let it drain out of the water for a few minutes before weighing it.

Its not like a sponge, most of the water will drain off of it and the amount that is left on it practically nothing.

It does but for a short time it is fine, it is when you do it for an extended period of time is when you have to re-cure the rock.

Take the rock out let it drain a bit and weigh it. If you deal with a hobbyist or a really cool and honest person working at a lfs they will knock off a couple of pounds from the total weight(depends how many pounds you buy) due to any hidden water still left.

I've bought lr from many places, and No Where have they ever taken anything off for HIDDEN water.:funnypost

99.99% of the water comes off when you take it out of the water and allow it to drain a couple of minutes, and that won't kill the microorganism.

They did it with me. Maybe i got lucky. Majority of the reefers would do that too. I would. Most of the water comes out but the rock is still wet and if you buy alot it adds up. Its not much but these rocks are 4-6+ dollars a pound. I'm not paying no $6 for Crap water! If people start complaining enough they will start doing that, well thats what the guy at the store told me. lol
