Stink bugs in the reef...

Now here's a problem I am perplexed about...I have an open topped 27 hex with PCs that's been cranking along with negative human input for years now, my Echino's are growing well, and Acans are putting new heads out every month, but I am getting bushy red algae, and some hair algae, which has not been a problem as much. But now I am being overrun with stink bugs which I find dead and drowned in my tank for the past couple months. Can these vermin be causing chemical problems in my tank from their decay and release of their "stink" chemicals that may cause an imbalance in my chemistry? Usually I yank out at least 5/week that I can find.

I was going to reply to this on Sunday, but I had nothing constructive to offer you after watching Carson throw more TD passes to the defense than to is own team.


Do you replace your bulbs every year or so? Spectrum changes can really exacerbate the algae and related...

While its possible..i would run carbon to be safe and vacuum up any all stinks...look in all cracks crevices as thats where they will hide out..

FWIW I have been getting these landing in my reef for awhile as well. They are so annoying. Apparently the stink they release attracts more of them to the area so its best to get rid of them in a way that prevents them from stinking. I pick them up in a piece of toilet paper and flush them. As far as for my reef I havent noticed them cause an issue, but I always run carbon.
