I am thinking about using it to soak food. Anyone have experience using it? Does it make the skimmer go nuts? Does it do anything bad to corals or grow algae?

Never used this but from what I understand it will not have any affect on your corals or skimmer.

I have heard that it raises the imune systems in fish. I was told to try it when my tang had ich. I never used it.

I use frozen brine, mysis, and flakes and my fish are in excelent shape with great coloration and energy.

Why do you feel that you need to use it?

I have used garlic and Selcon (soaked food in it) as an appetite stimulant and from my (limited) experience it worked great for that purpose.

I don't buy one damn bit that garlic some how improve the immune system of fish.

However if it gets them to eat, then that could be seen as anecdotal evidence that it improve their immune system simple because they have more energy to spend just because they're eating.

That said none of my fish have ANY problems eating :D

I use it all the time and would highly recommend it. For starters, it always helps my new fish eat and look forward to their next feeding. I have also used it in my quarantine tanks as a daily food soak with noticeable benefits. The main noticeable difference is that the sick fish seem to become healthier at a quicker pace. However, I have only used it with fish who have contracted ich, I am not sure how it would benefit other illnesses.
As for the filter, your skimmer will decrease foam production, but it is about the same percent as food without garlic soak.
