Liveaquaria.com's Diver's Den is hands down the very best livestock dealer in the US, online or otherwise. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it. You'll get acclimated, quarantined, well fed animals from them. I have several fish and corals from the Diver's Den on display at the Steinhart.

I hear good things about www.cherrycorals.com too, although I have never used them. The other folks that hang out here are more likely to know the good places to buy high end coral frags if you're into that kind of thing.

While neither are "bases" in Cali I fully agree on them being great.

Another is http://www.reefkoi.com/coral/

Based in Cali is www.BlueZooAquatics.com but I've never ordered from them. I hear good reviews though.

Another based in Cali is www.NeptuneAquatics.com they're based in Milpitas. Great store, great owners and great livestock.

Thanks. I for some reason thought you guys had some issues with the Drs. Forster/Smith people.

I'll check it out, since it is an easy 4 or 5 hour drive from Santa Crud. This is the best part of their website:

Tip: You can drop your lady friend off at the mall while you hang out here ! They'll love you for it!

It's in Milpitas (Montigue exit)...even in rush hour traffic it should take no more then 50 minutes. Add a bit more on since you up on the hill :(

I can get to Oakland in an hour and it;'s another 30+ miles from Milpitas :)

Nah. Race Foster is a bit on the eccentric side in his online behavior, that's all.

It was an attempt at humor. I've lived in the Bay area since 1986 (apart from 1993-1997).

Naming a kid like that could cause a lifetime's worth of behavior issues.

Wonder why we never hear about Race's brother Roy. Race, Roy and Marty started it together :)

Edit: never mind
Dr. Rory Foster (1950-1987)
Co-Founder Dr. Rory Foster passes away from A.L.S./Lou Gehrig's Disease.

This place is great. Lots of stuff at very reasonable prices. My wallet is $500 lighter. The owners were very nice and helpful people. The place was packed with people. I did not see anything that didn't look healthy and happy. Thanks so much for the recommendation.
