Mixed reviews from what I've heard. Avoid them for acrylic tanks, but you probably got that from the name. ;)

Any company recommendations? I'm looking for a 65 or 75 gal tall.

They might be alright for a glass tank. Certainly cheaper than the competition and lots of people are pleased with what they get. But enough aren't to make people think twice before ordering.

I'm in the UK and only commenting based on what I've read on the forums mind you. Whereabouts are you and is quality or value for money more important to you? Someone else might be able to recommend someone based on that info.

For example, Miracles Custom Aquariums in Toronto, Canada, are supposed to have an excellent reputation, but shipping costs might make them a less good option for you.

Aquarium Obsessed have an absolutely top reputation, but from what I've heard, you pay for the quality.

But this info is based on searching on the internet, so don't take my opinions as the last word!

Miracles and AO both make great glass aquariums, and shipping was actually really reasonable on my 176G AO (though I'd imagine it's a higher percentage of your tank cost for smaller tanks). AO is out of business from what I hear.

LeeMar in Cali makes awesome tanks for very good prices, but I don't think they ship to hobbyist. You may be able to convince them to ship to your LFS though ... I dunno.

LeeMar is in Vista in SoCal, but they might be able to work something out for SF. Contact them and ask (beg) :P Their prices and quality are good.

Leemar sells through retail stores only but they may be able to put you in contact with a local store near you that sells their tanks. But you’re looking for a fairly small tank; I would think the benefit of buying locally out weigh ordering from a company like glasscage. I don’t see the saving being all that much.

Didn't they go out of business? I thought they were...in any case I'd be very carefull giving any money to a company on the edge. They made my tank and the communication was terrible although the final product was good. Just not done when it was supposed to be and the external overflow was done the wrong size.

The general deal with glasscages is that they make tanks to order and then deliver them to large herp shows they attend, where you have to pick them up. At least last time I checked. The work of theirs I've see I wasn't too impressed with.

Looks like ordering locally for such a small tank is the way to go....... I didn't realize the options that LFS have.

Do you want glass? Not many (if any) glass builders around here.

If you want acrylic, give Gen a ring over at Kritter Creations http://www.krittertanks.com/ he's one of the better acrylic fabricators around here. How custom do you want to get? Sizes? There some nice off the shelf tanks that you can get too in that size.

Thanks for the info, but I'm finding that my NEW LFS is able to order (at a reasonable price) a tank. I should have gone to them first but was a bit gun shy by some bad experiences from other stores. The people seem to be pretty knowledgeable and willing to take the time to find out what I really need, and (this is the crazy part) actually give me different options!
