I think the bad economy has taken it's toll on the hobby. At least as far as new hobbyists are concerned. Most of the posters are old-timers and they don't ask many questions.

I try to make a point of answering new questions when they are asked.

Well I was looking for an active site. Are there others with more traffic I should try? It would be fun to exchange information with somebody else who is new.

One of the main advantages of a more active site is probably for some info about newer equipments or new fads. What about you?

Nothing wrong with information from any source. Just here there are so few posts. I like DIY and there are only 3-4 posts on that forum per year. May be great information, but not much of a varity to choose from.

No offense but your whole post seems very trollish...anyone that can find RDO should also be competent enough to use google. From that pretty simple to find RC, R2R etc.

JME but just because a board is very active with tons of new daily post, doesn't always mean good advice is abundant, in fact more often then not good advice is harder to come by on those boards.

The number of good advices usually is proportional to how active the site is, while the percentage of good advice falls inversely.

Here at least, when someone answers a question it's almost always from experience as opposed to "I read this posted somewhere else so I'll just repost it as a fact." Makes a bit of difference

I post elsewhere in addition to here. Not much, and when I do it's usually because someone has posted something so horribly, completely wrong, ignorant, ill-informed and detrimental as advice to someone else that I can't bite my tongue quickly enough to keep myself from typing out a reply.

If I hear one more person call euphyllia a soft coral I swear I'm buying anti-personnel weaponry.

Obviously Euphyllia is a type of tunicate!
