Hey guys!

First post (woohoo!)

Just wanted your opinion on something.
I have an eheim 2215, and because of the sand substrate and the unfortunately small size of my aquarium (for the moment 20g), I was wondering if you thought it would be bad for the motor of the filter to keep a relatively dense piece of sponge over the intake. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference in flow when i remove it, but i just wanted to ask in case one of you have had a bad experience with a similar situation.

I've done that before with no problems provided you clean the sponge regularly. But I find it's just easier to cut up part of a filter pad, wrap it around the intake and secure it with a rubber band. That way it's cheap to change out every week so it doesn't cut down on flow when it gacks up :)

Oh, and :welcome:

I just use the strainer. But if you stay on top of the sponge you should be okay.
